MD Ultrashelf Inc is a Murphy Door company. We build hardwood floating shelves and the Studlock bracket system that holds them to the wall. You pick the wood, the size and the finish, and we build the shelf to match.
All of our shelves are made at our plant in Rigby, Idaho. It's a 22,500 square foot hardwood facility with molders, planers and texturing equipment, run by a team that has been working hardwood on that floor for three decades. Murphy Door acquired the plant on July 20, 2026.
The shelves started with a bracket problem. A shelf should go where the room needs it, not where the studs happen to land. Putting a mounting hole every inch down the center of a bracket would fix the placement problem and ruin the strength, because the middle of the plate is what carries the load.
The answer was a keyhole profile around the perimeter. The screws lock in at the edge and the center stays solid. You get a fixing point every inch and a bracket rated to hold fifty pounds per stud. The design is patent pending.
Murphy Door was founded in 2012 and builds hidden doors, murphy beds and multifunctional furniture from facilities in Utah, Kentucky and Idaho. All of it is made in the United States.
At a time when a lot of companies moved production overseas, the company put its money into people and equipment here instead.
