Customer Reviews
The ease of ordering and shipping was great. Quality is terrific - solid wood with a nice bracket system. Though I am disappointed the color of the shelves did not match the wood color sample.
Highly recommend the sample pack vs just one or two colors. When reviewing all the sanples I ended up going in a very different direction. Worth the Small investment to get the right look.
I have purchased 3 different sets of the Reclaimed Barnwood floating shelves. I got a set for the kitchen for the space between the stove and kitchen window and they were so easy to install! I went ahead and ordered 3 more sets! One for the breakfast nook and 4 for the space on both sides of the stone fireplace. They have all been easy to install with the flexible mounts and even though each set is unique, they all are consistent enough to flow from room to room. I am thinking about ordering more. I love the flexibility to order the exact size as all three areas were a little unusual regarding standard measurements.
I ordered raw unpainted and got some sort of white meal. Was told they were unreturnable. What a waste of money.
The samples are nice quality and helped us to realize what works best in our space.
High quality shelves, easy installation and worth the expedited cost. Have already recommended to others.
These shelves are worth the investment. It’s the perfect way to display all my family photos. The quality is top notch, and installation is a breeze!!
Having purchased some reclaimed barn wood shelves for my kitchen from you, I decided when remodeling my family room, the wall my fire place is on needed a face lift and added a mantle. Once again, got reclaimed barn wood. The color of grey/mustard or goldenrod was absolutely gorgeous for the colors I'd picked for the room. The shelving was so easy to install. It took no more than 5 minutes with a few measurements to make sure I centered everything correctly.
I was looking for some shelves without brackets and found your site and thought the reclaimed barnwoid would be a nice addition to my 230+ year old house. Your product was easy to work with and love how it looks in my new kitchen.
I had such high hopes. We couldn't even prepare them for wall-mounting without them falling apart. Then it got much worse trying to wall-mount them, and this was using a professional installer. Customer service was rude and unhelpful. It's as though they receive so many complaints that they are sick of hearing about it. Maybe it would be better to make a high-quality product and stand behind it?
As a smaller jig is not available for use on the single post bracket, I needed to use the 10" jig for both the 10" bracket and the single post, which equated to an unwanted step or 2. Additionally, the counter sunk hole break through as the jig is fastened snug to the shelf material, compromising their ability to hold the jig.
They are BEAUTIFUL, solidly functional and so easy to install with the amazing brackets.
Great samples to compare colors, the floating shelves look beautiful but it’s just a little pricey for me right now. I need to give it some more time.
How was my experience with this item? HORRIBLE! I thought I could save some money by using some locally sourced white ash I had and just buy the brackets. Bad idea. I bought the brackets, the routing guide, drill guide, and buts. The routing guide was hardly useful as it has no visual holes or some other way to see how if the hole you were about to rout out was going to be a level hole. Next the small indents on the routing guide were not only too small to fit the drill guide into the slot but also the indents were in the wrong location ranging about a 1/4 inch in various directions. Next the metal brackets I bought were so flimsy or misshapen that went I mounted the brackets to the wall they looked like a snake slithering across my wall. All these things made this project way harder, longer, and more expensive than I wanted it too. I spent hours straightening the brackets which were never completely straight, and more hours boring out my holes and rerouting my boards to make the dumb brackets work. Don't let this company fool you! Cheap expensive **** with a fancy website to suck you in.
The shelves are beautiful! They are high quality and heavy. The brackets are heavy duty and easy to install. I LOVE THEM. Worth every penny.
These shelves are literally worth their weight in terms of quality. I am overall extremely happy with them and they are truly a beautiful addition to the kitchen. The only down side and why they got 4 stars instead of 5 is that they were far more complicated to install than I imagined. The website makes it seem like 15 minutes to install, easy peasy... but that's not all that it entails. For folks like myself who aren't very handy and don't know what they're doing, it would have been helpful to have some general install guidelines or things to think about - for example, you need to find at least 2 studs to drill into for the brackets which are X inches long (note that most studs are farther apart than the length of the bracket). If you can only find one stud, you should get a drywall anchor [include link - ultrashelf even sells them!]). Anyway, if I'd had any idea that it wasn't going to be 15 minutes, I would have ultimately been happier so my expectations would be tempered. It took us two weekends and 4 trips to the hardware store to complete. Probably a total of 6 hours to install, plus 2 hours or so of painting (needed a TON of extra paint, the wood was very absorbent?). Also for install - definitely need two people. They're too heavy to hold and to mark all the spots on the wall while holding it level.
It was good but could have been better. I gave Ultra Shelf a 3:5 stars because the router jig and drill guide are ****. The instructions for the router tell you how deep to set your router, but they don’t include the thickness of the jig. Yes, you can measure it, but having the information as to how thick the jig is in the instructions would be super handy. Also, the instructions said my drill guide would fit into the router jig. Not even close. There was no way the drill guide would fit into the router jig I had. Now for the drill guide. I used it to drill all of the holes in the first two pieces of wood. Ended up drilling through the side (top/bottom) of the shelf. On my third piece of wood, I didn’t use the guide and I didn’t drill through the side (top/bottom) of my shelf. So, the guide really isn’t a guide. It’s more of a nuisance. Also the guide doesn’t allow you to drill deep enough for the bracket to fit into the holes. Needless to say, I ended up not using either of the above items to work my shelf. I freehanded it and had better results. The shelf bracket itself is great. It secure to the wall easily and is currently holding the shelf with ease. And it’s a big shelf. It’s 11inX2inX8ft piece of pine and I am pretty sure it is not coming off the wall without some brute force.
The guide did not fit in the channel as per instruction vids. Also the clearances were too tight for the bit to fit. It would bind.
The Ultra Shelf product is very high quality. It was easy to install and looks great in my kid's bedroom to hold her American Girl doll stuff!
Love the variety of colors in my shelves. The only draw back is that one end is curved and not flat.
